On 14 Kartik, 2077, Shree Manikam Devi Secondary School of Laprak- 4, Dharke VMP, Gorkha, which has initiated a new course in +2 entitled, Tourism and Mountaineering, was inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of Gandaki Province, Mr Bikash Lamsal.
On the same occasion, the representative from Nepal Mountain Academy, Executive Director, Mr Romnath Gyawali, and the representative from the school, Principal, Mr Dhan Bahadur Gurung, signed an inter-institutional accord for academic and technical collaboration/ partnership.
Nepal Mountain Academy as the course incubator and academic advising body is committed to helping Manikamdevi HSS with necessary resources. Now, after the course initiation, textbooks development, faculty ascertainment, tech/ gear aid are considered as the next objective of the Academy to undertake.
With this initiative, tourism and mountaineering education are witnessed to be fostered at the secondary level, thus enabling the graduates to gain easy enrolment to the bachelor level in related academia. As Nepal's paramount mover for economic stability and growth remains the tourism sector and mountaineering being the most authentic niche of adventure tourism, the initiation of mountaineering education is widely optimistic.
