Minister Bhattarai Visited the International Mountain Research/ Training Center, Garma, Solukhumbu

Amid the festival, Nepal Mountain Academy has successfully assisted Hon'ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mr Yogesh Bhattarai's visit of the International Mountain Training/ Research Center (IMTRC) of Garma, Solukhumbu. Minister Bhattarai currently has been the course of visiting the affiliated institutions of ministry to witness first-hand development and applications being carried out in the areas.

The IMTRC is a highly optimistic mega project of the academy prospected to be a site of nation-wide and even international research hub on high mountains, mountaineering and its applied disciplines. IMTRC's development is now on the final stage and on completion, the structure is able to campus the students of BMS/ MATS and other enthusiasts of mountain academics and research.

Minister Bhattarai being a mentor, facilitator and a parental figure of the Academy and its undertakings, expressed his hopes in advanced mountaineering academia assisted by the IMTRC. He said that the government is ready to make necessary arrangements to run the academy as a campus. He said that he would immediately discuss with the management committee about the 3,000-ropani IMTRC in Garma and move ahead with other necessary works.

During the inspection visit of the Minister, Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari, Member of the Parliament of Province no. 1 and local delegates briefed about the current status of the establishment and the work to be done. 

Nepal's tallest artificial climbing wall (20m) sculpted on the back of mythical creature Yeti is also being constructed in the IMTRC.

Despite the construction of infrastructure, the on-site inspection visit of the Tourism Minister has raised hopes to create an environment for students to study in Garma while they are still studying in Kathmandu.
